In the 1980s, the Pink Mini Bus was a staple of daily life in Malaysia. It wasn’t a school bus, but rather a public bus, packed with people heading to work, running errands, and, of course, kids on their way to school. The bus may have been nothing special, but it was a symbol of the everyday hustle, a familiar sight weaving through neighbourhoods, often crammed with passengers and buzzing with the chatter of the city.
Now, this simple, unassuming bus serves as the key visual for my Banal Deluxe collection, where we turn everyday, often overlooked objects into bold patterns. The Pink Mini Bus, though a humble part of daily life, holds a special place in our memories, a reminder of the beauty and significance of the small, mundane things that shape our lives.
